America in Prophecy
“Alas, oh land of whirring wings which lies beyond the rivers of Ethiopia (NAS).  Go, swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-skinned, to a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers.” (NIV) – Isa. 18:1-2

In this message, we take a closer look at the details of this prophecy of Isaiah 18. If, indeed, this is a prophecy about America, it helps us to better understand America’s future as the world moves closer to the return of Christ.

Oil in Israel

“And of Asher he said, Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil.” – Deut. 33:24

“…they shall suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures hid in the sand.” – Deut. 33:19

Major media worldwide are reporting on massive exploration projects currently underway in Israel that promises to make the country a prime producer and exporter of oil and gas. In the early ’80s, Wally was a public spokesman for “The Asher Project,” giving daily progress reports of this early search for oil in Israel by Houston’s Energy Exploration, Inc. Worthy to Escape

There is an element of depth to these two passages of promise that goes beyond “Rapture Watch” for the believer. It goes beyond “having the strength to endure,” as some translations suggest. It’s a message that goes to the fact that Jesus is addressing the dedicated disciple whose heart is set to always please the Lord at all times, and the Lord’s response to that dedication. As we go deeper into the end-times, it’s critically important that believers re-connect with these promises.
